Anne-Marie Short - Principal

Anne-Marie Short is the principal of Piper Prairie Elementary, bringing more than 30 years of experience in education and a proven record of instructional leadership, school culture improvement, and inclusive practices. Formerly principal of David Brewer Elementary in Leavenworth, Kansas, she holds degrees from the University of Kansas and Pittsburg State University. Known for her student-centered approach, data-informed decision-making, and strong community relationships, Anne-Marie is dedicated to ensuring every learner thrives at Piper Prairie.

Jason Malaschak - Asst. Principal

Jason Malaschak has dedicated the past 13 years to serving in various administrative roles within the Piper School District. He started as the Building Administrator at Piper High School before taking on vice-principal positions at Piper Prairie Elementary School and, most recently, at Piper Creek Elementary School.
Mr. Malaschak earned his Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) and Master of Science (MS) degrees from Emporia State University. His professional journey began as a Math Teacher and Girls Soccer Coach at Emporia High School, a role he held from 1997 to 2011.
Beyond his career, Mr. Malaschak celebrates 26 years of marriage and is a proud father of three sons. One of his sons has already graduated from Piper High School, while the other two are currently enrolled in Piper schools. In his leisure time, Mr. Malaschak finds success as a multiple-time champion in pickleball, paper football, and NHL on the Saga Genesis.
